TINDALE WARD

 

TINDALE WARD, the largest of the six wards of Northumberland, com-prises the market towns of Allendale, Bellingham, Corbridge, Haltwhistle, Hexham, and Stamfordham, and is divided into five divisions, within the limits of which are comprehended twenty-seven parishes, three parochial chapelries, and five extra-parochial places, whose united area is 506,833 statute acres. The population in 1801, was 33,256; in 1841, 44,233; and in 1851, 47,440. The subjoined table shows the names of the parishes, their acreage, number of houses, and population in 1851 :-
