Trinity School, Carlisle
Trinity School is a secondary school, located on Strand Road in Carlisle. The school has about 1,700 students aged 11 to 18.[1] Trinity Sixth Form Centre is located in the Carliol Building, which was originally constructed in 1883 as the new home for Carlisle Grammar School. In 1968 the grammar merged with two other nearby schools to become Trinity, a Church of England voluntary aided comprehensive school. Trinity School converted to an academy in September 2011.
Carlisle Grammar School (often called the High School until 1880), has a history going as far back as 1186[2] The Grammar School was of royal foundation and formed part of the Cathedral, and so was originaly located within the Cathedral grounds. In 1806, a new school building was constructed in West Walls; this was replaced by a new building there in 1832 (this building is now a URC Church). The Grammar School moved to it's new building on Strand Road in 1883. That building is now part of Trinity School.
