Old Collierley National School, Harelaw

The former Collierley national school and schoolmasters' house in Harelaw is located on North Road (B6168). The Collierley national school was built in 1846, to the designs of George Walton, extended on becoming a board school during the later 19th century. The master's house was later converted to a full height classroom. Hare Law School later provided specialist education teaching for children with complex educational needs, including autism. This school later relocated to Greencroft, becoming Croft Community School. The former school building here in Harelaw was later host to the Phoenix Art Centre. By 2013 the building was sold for conversion into private residences. The buildings are Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England.
