Heaton Park

Heaton Park has a network of footpaths and connects with Armstrong Park, Jesmond Dene and Ouseburn Park. The Pavilion building in the park was refurbished in 2011, with Heritage Lottery Funding, now hosting Sambuca restaurant. The pavilion was originally built in 1884 as an aviary, but it was badly damaged by a fire in 1979; it's surviving Victorian ironwork was restored by Beamish Museum and reused in the new building. Also in the park are the ruins of the House of Adam (also known as King John’s Palace or Adam's Camera), a fortified manor house from the 13th Century. Heaton Park, Jesmond Dene and Armstrong Park (combined) are a Listed Park and Garden on the National Heritage List for England.
