Gallowgate


Gallogate is a street in Newcastle city centre which heads west from the junction of Newgate Street, Percy Street and Blackett Street. It's name derives from the past, when convicted criminals were taken along Gallowgate to the gallows on the Town Moor near Fenham Barracks. St James' Park football stadium is located near the street, with it's famed 'Gallogate End'. In 2011 the Sir Bobby Robson Memorial Garden was built by Gallowgate, near the stadium.
