Former Station, Gilsland
The railway station at Gilsland opened on the 9th July 1836 as Rose Hill (renamed Gilsland in 1869). It was built by the Newcastle and Carlisle Railway, and the station buildings were likely designed by Benjamin Green. The station was closed on the 2nd January 1967. The former station masters house and ticket office (now a private residence) is a Grade II listed building on the National Heritage List for England. The former waiting room is separately Grade II listed.
