Gilsland railway station (site), Cumbria

  • Description

"Opened in 1836 by the Newcastle & Carlisle Railway, later part of the North Eastern Railway, this station closed in 1967. View west towards Low Row and Carlisle. The building was set back from the platform and at one time had an expansive canopy to protect passengers from the elements." Photo by Nigel Thompson, 2019.
