1 & 3 Grey Street

Nos. 1 & 3 Grey Street, Newcastle, were built c.1835, probably by John Wardle, for Richard Grainger as part of the redevelopment of Newcastle City Centre from 1824 to 1841. Located on the corner of  Grey Street and Mosley Street, it was originally built as shops and houses. For many years, the building hosted the Leeds Permanent Building Society. Over time it has hosted various businesses, including Lupins' (hairdressing salon on the first floor) and Manyana (restaurant).  Now No. 1 hosts the The Vineyard wine bar (at 2022). Nos. 1 & 3 Grey Street are Grade II* listed on the National Heritage List for England. < Nos. 2-8 Grey Street Nos. 5-13 Grey Street >
