West Thorn, Ponteland

West Thorn is a hamlet and farm in Northumberland, located just over 2 miles north-west of Ponteland. West Thorn and East Thorn are located on a minor road which runs between Westgate and Eastgate. A Beacon by West Thorn is noted on maps; the cairn on Beacon Hill here, is thought to have been the site of a beacon where in the past, fires were lit to send signals across the country.[1] West Thorn and East Thorn are part of Ponteland Civil Parish.
