The Mansion House, Fernwood Road
The Mansion House on Fernwood Road in Jesmond is the official residence of the Lord Mayor of Newcastle. It was originally built in 1880 as two houses, then converted into one house in 1900.[1] Known as Thurso House, it was the town house of Sir Arthur Munro Sutherland, who bequeathed it to the city when he died in 1953. As well as being the official residence of the Lord Mayor, the Mansion House is also used for weddings, conferences and other functions.[2]
