Stainsby Beck

Stainsby Beck is a river in which feeds into the Old River Tees near Teesside Shopping Park (the Old River Tees is a section of the original, meandering course of the River Tees, which was largely bypassed in the early 19th century to improve navigation), effectively a tributary of today's River Tees. Stainsby Beck itself is formed by the confluence of Stainton Beck and Maltby Beck. Blue Bell Beck also joins Stainsby Beck further upstream.

Stainsby Beck forms part of the boundary between the borough of Stockton-on-Tees and the borough of Middlesbrough. The area around the Beck acts as a green corridor, separating the suburb of Acklam in Middlesbrough from Thornaby in Stockton. The remains of Stainsby Medieval Village are situated on the east banks of the Beck, near Stainsby Grange Farm.
