St Patricks Catholic Church, Dipton
St Patricks Catholic Church is located on North Road, Flint Hill, Dipton. The Catholic mission in Dipton was originally founded in 1907 from Brooms parish. The site for a church was acquired from Lord Ninian Stewart who also let a house to the first resident priest, Father (later Canon) McGill. On the 29th of June 1907, a large timber and iron church was opened by Bishop Collins. In 1910, Father John Maloney became the first resident priest. In 1934, the church was clad in stone and the interior plastered. However, the church was destroyed by fire on the 15th of June 1964. The current church building was erected on the old foundations, opening on the 28th of August 1968. (Source: Taking Stock - Catholic Churches of England and Wales).
