St. Mary's RC Church, Wycliffe

St Mary's Roman Catholic Church is located on Green Lane, between Hutton Magna and Wycliffe. The church, on a prominent hilltop position, was built in 1849, on the site of an earlier 18th century chapel. It was originally the private chapel of the Tunstall family at Wycliffe Hall. Present church, in a 14th century-style, was by Mr Jones of Barnard Castle. The font in the church is thought to date from the 15th century. The church is a Grade II listed building on the National Heritage List for England.
