Rosgill, Cumbria


Rosgill is a village in Cumbria, located about 8 miles south of Penrith and 1½ miles north-west of the village of Shap. The Manor of Rosgill was held by Rosgill family in 13th and 14th centuries.[1] It was purchased by the Lowther family in the late 18th century. Rosgill Bridge, over the River Lowther, is to the south-east of the village. Mary's Pillar, is a local landmark, to the north of Rosgill. Rosgill Moor is located to the south-west. Rosgill forms part of Shap Rural Civil Parish and is in the Westmorland & Furness unitary authority area.
