    "Across the green from the 'George & Dragon Inn' at Garragill, Alston in Cumbria Is a plaque on the gable end of a house which states: THE OLD GARRIGILL SCHOOL CAN BE TRACED BACK SINCE BEFORE AD 1685 THIS TABLET WAS PLACED BY THE REV. W. R.
