Caistron Lake

  • Description

"Sand and gravel extraction has been undertaken along this stretch of middle Coquetdale for the last half century. Gravel heaps, marking the present operation can be seen to the left. As extraction is concluded, the lake is restored as a fishery and nature reserve. Caistron Farm [[NT9901]] can be seen on the far bank beyond the River Coquet." Photo by Oliver Dixon, 2010.
