Kirkby Thore School

Kirkby Thore School is a community primary school located near the junction of Priest Lane and Cross Street in the village of Kirkby Thore. The school has about 50 pupils aged 3 to 11.[1] The school building dates from 1875 and was enlarged in 1883 and again in 1890. This was a Board school replacing an earlier endowed school in Kirkby Thore which was built in 1832. This old school building was then used as a reading room and library, then later converted into a to dwelling in the 21st century.[2]
