Kimmerston
Kimmerston is a hamlet in Northumberland, located about 1 mile south of Ford, 3 miles north-west of Doddington, and 5 miles north of Wooler. It is centred around Kimmerston Farm, with a small number of farm workers' residences. There is a riding centre (established, 1985) and visitor accommodation. Close to the south of Kimmerston are earthworks, which are thought to be the remains of the deserted medieval village of Kimmerston.[1] Historically, Kimmerston was a constablewick (subdivision) of the ancient parish of Ford. The constablewick also included Broomridge, Fordwood, and Roughton Linn. Whellan's 1855 directory of Northumberland lists John Piercy (blacksmith) and James Grey (farmer) at Kimmerston.[2] Today, Kimmerston forms part of Ford Civil Parish.
