Former Pheasant Inn, Church Street, Carlisle
The former Pheasant Inn is located on Church Street, Carlisle. Originally it was a row of 3 houses built in the late 18th century. It appears on the 1865 OS map as the Silloth Railway Inn (that railway was opened on 28th August 1856).[1] It was called The Pheasant for the first time in the 1873 directory. The pub was taken under the State Management Scheme in 1916, and sold out of state control in 1972. The pub closed in 2000 and for a time the building became The Golden Pheasant Chinese Resurant. The building is Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England.
