Croglin Low Hall
Croglin Low Hall is located about 10 miles south-east of Carlisle and is about 2 miles south-west of the village of Croglin. It is situated near the confluence of Briggle Beck with Coglin Water. The farm here is a former manor house complex; the farmhouse is a former pele tower and hall. The pele is thought to date from the 15th century, and the hall from the early 16th century, with early 17th and late 18th century extensions. This was the manor house of the de Croglin, Dacre and then the Howard families. The farmhouse (incorporating the pele tower) is a Grade II* listed building on the National Heritage List for England. The Gatehouse (early 17th century) is separately Grade II listed. The archway and adjoining walls (mid 18th century) are also Grade II listed, and the byre/former barn (early 16th century) is Grade II* listed.
