Church of St John
St John's Church in Keswick was built in 1838 by the eminent architect Anthony Salvin (1799-1881).The patron of the church was John Marshall, owner of a Leeds flax mill, who in 1832 had purchased Castlerigg Manor in Keswick. Marshall died before the church was completed, but his family continued to patronise the church, adding aisles in 1862 and 1882, and lengthening the chancel in 1889.[1] St John's Parish Church is Grade II* listed on the National Heritage List for England.
