Chantry Footbridge

The Chantry Footbridge over the River Wansbeck is located by Chantry Place in Morpeth. It was built in 1869 by Swinney Bros. of Morpeth, funded by public subscription. This is the site of the medieval 'Old Bridge'; parts of the 13th century bridge (the central pier and abutments) remain and now support the Chantry Footbridge. The remains of the old bridge and the footbridge are Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England.
