Beckfoot, Kirkby Stephen

Beckfoot is located on Appleby Road (B6259), about 1½ miles north of Kirkby Stephen and 1 mile north-west of Winton, in Cumbria. Beckfoot (aka Beckfoot Hall) is a large house dateing from the late-18th century, extended in the mid-19th century, and is Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England. The Coach House and former stables date from the mid-19th century (also Grade II listed). The lodge (aka Gatehouse) is dated 1895 (Grade II listed), and stands by the entrance gate piers and walls (Grade II listed), which were built at the same time as the lodge. The Gatehouse is now available as a holiday let. There is a stained glass window in memory of John Foster of Beckfoot (1889-1951) in St Stephen's Church in nearby Kirkby Stephen. Beckfoot is part of Winton Civil Parish.
