Wigton Youth Station (former White Swan)
Wigton Youth Station is located at No. 16, High Street in Wigton. The building dates from the late 18th century and was formerly the White Swan public house. It is notable as being the last pub acquired by the State Management Scheme, in March 1921, over two years after the end of the First World War. The pub was sold back into private ownership in 1973 for £6,000.[1] After the pub ceased trading, the building later became Wigton Labour Club. After a period of disuse, the building became Wigton Youth Station in 1998. The organisation started as YES (Youth Enquiry Service) centre, origninally hosted in a basement room in the Wigton's community hall, and changed it's name to Wigton Youth Station in 1982.[2]
