Wetheral Cross

The Wetheral Cross is located on The Green in Wetheral. The red sanstone cross stands on older steps which were originally the base for a wooden maypole, which had been erected in 1814 by Henry Howard of Corby Castle. The steps were moved to the present location, and the maypole replaced by the stone cross in c.1844. The Wetheral Cross is Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England.
