Welton


Welton is a hamlet and farm in Northumberland, located about 11 miles WNW of Newcastle and 2 miles north-west of the village of Horsley. It is situated by Whittle Burn and the Whittle Dean Reservoirs. Welton was the site of a medieval settlement and it's 14/15th century tower house and manor house can still be seen. Historically, Welton was a township in the ancient parish of Ovingham. Today, Welton is part of Horsley Civil Parish.
