Thornton House, near Hartburn
Thornton House was built in the late 18th century. It is a Grade II listed building on the National Heritage List for England. Whellan's 1855 Directory of Northumberland lists Thorton House under the township of West Thornton, in the ancient parish of Hartburn, with John and Frederick Swan, farmers and graziers here, at that time.[1]
