The Andalusian, Carlisle
The Andalusian is a bar and resurant on Warwick Road, by the junction with The Cresent, in Carlisle. Originally it was "The Crescent Inn", built in 1932 by Harry Redfern for the Carlisle & District State Management Scheme, intended to take over from the Lord Brougham pub, which was across the road. The Hispano-Moresque style buildng is regarded by some as the most flamboyant of Harry Redfern's designs for the State Management Scheme. Later it was renamed "The White House". After a peiod of disuse, the building reopened as a bar/restaurant in December 2009. It was known a Prezo and most recently, The Andalusian. The building is Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England.
