St Andrews' RC Church, Worswick Street, Newcastle
St Andrews' Roman Catholic Church is located on Worswick Street in Newcastle. The present parish church was built in c.1880 and it's attached presbytery was built in 1865, to designs Edward Welby Pugin. It replaced an earlier church of 1798, which was founded by Father James Worswick (1771-1843).[1] The church and adjacent presbytery are Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England, which states "these two contrasting buildings form an integral unit, though the presbytery, by the important Victorian architect Edward Welby Pugin, is of a higher architectural quality than the later, but also impressive, parish church."[2]
