Selside Endowed CE Primary School

Selside Endowed Church of England Primary School is a voluntary aided school in Selside. It has about 40 pupils aged 4 to 11.[1] In the past, it was recorded that a schoolmaster was licensed in Selside in 1691 and a curate taught school (non endowed) was noted in 1695. A school here was endowed by John Kitchen in 1730, with an income of £40.[2] This school buildng was rebuilt by subscription in 1793 and agin in 1837, but had to be rebuilt yet again after a fire in 1897.[3] It is this building which is now Selside Endowed CE Primary School.
