Rockcliffe First School

Rockcliffe First School is located on Grafton Road in Whitley Bay. It is a foundation school with about 370 pupils aged 3 to 9.[1] The school opened as Whitley Council South School in 1906, in temporary accommodation on Rockcliffe Street. The present school building was opened on the 1st of May, 1911. During the First World War the school building was requisition by the military, so from 1914-19 pupils were transferred to the nearby Whitley North School (now Marine Park First School).[2] The school took on its present name of Rockcliffe First School in 1973.
