Richardson Dees Primary School is located on High Street East in Wallsend. It is a Foundation school, under North Tyneside Learning Trust. The school has about 230 pupils aged 3 to 11.[1] Originally, Richardson Dees School was opened on 24th February 1902 by the Mayor of Wallsend, Alderman William Boyd. The school building was designed by B.J. Simpson of Newcastle and the building contractor was W.T. Weir of Howdon.[2] It was named after local benefactor, Robert Richardson Dees (1814 - 1908) of Wallsend Hall. The school became a middle school in 1969 and then a primary school in 2002. The building underwent a major refurbishment in the mid-1980s. The school is on the List of Buildings, Parks and Gardens of Special Local Architectural or Historic Interest ('Local List') for North Tyneside.
