    BBC, 22nd November, 2007. "A shake-up of education in Northumberland is under way after plans to create a privately-funded academy were given the go-ahead. Bede Academy in Blyth, sponsored by the Emmanuel School Foundation, will cater for primary and secondary pupils when it opens in 2009. Six schools are due to close in the town, as Northumberland moves from a three-tier to a two-tier system. The county council's planning committee approved the Bede plans on Thursday....."
