Aycliffe Quarry

  • Description

"A vast quarry in Magnesian limestone to the east of Aycliffe village. The stone quarrying appears to have largely given way to recycling and tipping. The stump of the old windmill on the horizon is an indication of the dry nature of much of the limestone belt in County Durham."
