Statue of Ralph Ward Jackson

    Church Street, Hartlepool. Jackson is known as the founder of West Hartlepool. He was the managing director of the West Hartlepool Harbour and Dock Co which owned large areas of land around the harbour. They laid out the first streets, and provided a sewerage system. Many of the new buildings were constructed with limestone excavated to make the docks.
