Old School, Winton


The Old School is located on the village green in Winton. The first school in Winton had been built by subscription in 1659 and endowed in 1681. The present building is dated 1862 with a list of subscribers on a panel on its porch. Within the building, the date stone linel from the original school has been re-used above the entrance to fuel store: W.M. (for founder, Rev. William Morland) 1659. The school closed in 1977 and the building was converted for accommodation. The Old School is a Grade II listed building on the National Heritage List for England.
