Old Milestone, Kingstown Road, Carlisle

This old milestone is at the side of A7, Kingstown Road, in the Kingstown area of Carlisle. It is situated outside Subway, which was the site of a Tollhouse which served the Kingstown & Westlinton Bridge Turnpike Trust in the 19th century. The tollhouse was later extended for use as Kingstown HSBC Bank; now the site hosts a Subway takeaway. The milestone is Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England.
