Old bridge at Ebchester
The stone bridge over the River Derwent at Ebchester was built in 1862. The stone bridge, with 3 arches, straddles the county border between County Durham and Northumberland and is partly in Shotley Low Quarter. It was originally built as a road bridge, but now serves as a foot bridge, after being replaced by a wider concrete road bridge downstream in 1973. The old bridge is Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England.
