Nos. 6-7, Market Place, former Barclays Bank
Nos. 6-7, Market Place in Durham was built for Barclaus Bank in 1887 by the architect A. Waterhouse (who also designed the Natural History Museum in London). The building was extended in 1924. The Barclays Bank branch here closed on 8th December, 2023. The lintel above the left door is inscribed Barclays Bank, the lintel above the right door Barclays Chambers. The building is Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England.
