Newsham Station

The new railway station at Newsham, Blyth, was built as part of the Northumberland Line project, restoring passenger rail services between Ashington and Newcastle for the first time since the Beeching cuts in the 1960s. It is located near to Newsham South signal box and level crossing. The station was scheduled to open in the summer of 2024.

The new station is located about ½ mile south-east of the site of the original station, which was opened by the Blyth and Tyne Railway in 1851.The old station was located near the junction of the Bedlington and the Percy Main to Blyth lines, behind the east ends of Seaton Avenue and Carlton Road. The original station was closed to passengers on the 2nd November 1964.
