Marden Bridge Middle School

Marden Bridge Middle School is located on Lovaine Avenue in Whitley Bay. It is a community school with about 530 pupils aged 9 to 13.[1] The school dates back to 1914, when it was two separate schools on the site: Whitley and Monkseaton High School for Boys and Whitley and Monkseaton High School for Girls opened on the 29th September 1914. It wasn't until 1937 that these were merged into a single school. Then in 1945 it became Whitley Bay Grammar School and in 1963, changed to Hillheads Secondary Modern School. The school catered for 11-18 year old, until 1973, whien it became Whitley Bay Marden Bridge Middle School (for 9-11 year olds).
