Lookout Farm, The Avenue, Seaton Sluice

Lookout Farm is located on The Avenue in Seaton Sluice, close to Seaton Delaval Hall. The former farm house dates from the 17th century, heightened and remodelled in mid-18th century, with it's rear wing heightened in the late 19th century. The stepped pedimented gables (also seen on The Delaval Arms in Old Hartley) show the influence of Sir John Vanbrugh's architectural style at Seaton Delaval Hall.[1] Whellan's 1855 directory of Northumberland lists John Crawford as farmer at Look Out, at that time.[2] The former farmhouse here, with attached outbuilding are Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England. The former farm buildings were renovated and redeveloped in the early 2000s.
