Kirkby Lonsdale is a town in the South Lakeland district of Cumbria. It has a town council which serves a population of 1,756 (2011 Census). Historically, kirkby Lonsdale was a township (population of 1,629 in 1848) and a parish (population of 4,178 in 1848) in the county of Westmorland.
