Jesmond Dene Road
Jesmond Dene Road in Newcastle is just over 1½ miles long; it begins at the junction of Jesmond Road and Benton Bank, and runs in a roughly northern direction along the western side of Jesmond Dene. Towards the north of Jesmond, the road then runs west towards Gosforth, and then south-west, and ends at the Bluehouse Roundabout on Town Moor, with the junction of the Great North road and Grandstand Road. On the west side of the road, along Jesmond Dene, are residential terraces. Also, along the road, are the former early 19th century mansions of Jesmond Towers and Jesmond Dene House, and the former Banqueting Hall of Lord Armstrong, who owned Jesmond Dene, before gifting it to the people of Newcastle in 1883. At the north-west end of Jesmond Dene Road is the Laing Memorial Fountain.
