Jesmond Dene Mill
The old water mill is located by the Ouseburn (river) in Jesmond Dene. A water mill was first recorded here in 1739, at that time known as 'Mabel's Mill'; in the mid 19th century it was known as 'Heaton Mill'. The current building mainly dates from the mid to late 19th century, but is thought to incorporate parts of the earlier mill building. The mill is partly ruined, but retains some of its machinery inside. Jesmond Dene Mill is Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England.[1]
