Holywell is a hamlet in County Durham, located about 1 mile west of Sunderland Bridge and 3 miles south-west of Durham city. It is situated near where Holywell Beck joins the River Wear. Holywell Hall here, date backs to the 16th century. It falls within Brancepeth Civil Parish.
