Greystoke Gill


Greystoke Gill is a hamlet in the Eden district of Cumbria, located about 4 miles west of Penrith and just over ½ mile south of the village of Greystoke. The hamlet is situated by the infant River Petteril, which is called Greystoke Gill here. Historically, Gill and the nearby Motherby formed a township in the ancient parish of Greystoke in Cumberland. Today, Gill is part of Greystoke Civil Parish.

MOTHERBY, with Gill, a township, in the parish of Greystock, union of Penrith, Leath ward, E. division of Cumberland, 6½ miles (W. by S.) from the town of Penrith; containing 85 inhabitants.
