Glendale Community Middle School

Glendale Community Middle School is located on Brewery Road on the eastern edge of Wooler. The school initially opened as Glendale County Secondary School on the 31st of August 1953. It was built in 1951-3 on the site of a former Prisoner of War (P.O.W.) camp.[1] The stone lions on the gateposts at the western entrance to the school were made by Italian prisoners-of-war.[2] The school became Glendale County Middle School in 1977.[3]
