After 50 years, there's a lot to catch up on for former Wooler school pupils

  • Description

Berwick Advertiser, 13th August 2003. "SEVERAL hundred ex-pupils of the former Glendale County Secondary School, Wooler, will have a lot to catch up on when they get together in the autumn to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the school's foundation.....The transformation in the lives of the first children to walk through the gates of the new school on Monday morning, August 31, 1953, is difficult to imagine now. All but a few from the surroundings villages and farms had until then received their education in tiny village schools with an age range of five to 15 years....."
