Former Board School, Helmington Row


Located by the junction of the A690 and Holy Well Lane, in Helmington Row, is Helmington House - it is a former Board schools (Girls, Boys & Infants), which was built in 1877. The school closed in the 1960s and was converted for residential use. The Gothic style building is Grade II listed in the National Heritage List for England. The gate piers, walls and railings by the building, of 1877, are separately Grade II listed.

The county archives include records for schools (presumably this one!) for:

  • Helmington Row Council School (records for 1921-1934 and 1937-1938)
  • Helmington Row County Primary School (records for 1951-1963)
